About AditiSpirit.com

The name Aditi comes from the Sanskrit language and embraces both the masculine and feminine aspects of creativity. The purpose of this site is to learn web design, explore genetics and genealogy. Eventually it will include some photography and higher end craft projects.

About me:

I began this journey because I could find no one who had answers for my health questions. I cannot fault medical doctors because they have only limited knowledge of biochemistry and genetics but I did not know that at the time. They receive limited training in these fields. I would read how biological functions are supposed to work and after years of frustration, I determined there might be something wrong genetically as my body did not function in the ways described. Nothing showed up on standard tests and I looked like the picture of health but I was barely able to make it through the day.

Not all of the problems had genetic causes as there is a strong relationship to prolonged stress over the years which collided with genetic weaknesses and backwards responses to "improving my diet". The better I ate, the worse I felt, so I ignore all the latest fads and recommendations in food science and dieting, they almost did me in. I also have backward responses to some supplements so for the most part I keep it simple and stay away from supplements, especially the herbal variety. I stick to vitamins, specific ones for addressing genetic mutations I have, so that the impaired genes work at an optimal rate. It has taken a few years to untangle this mess and figure out what I needed and when to take it but I am back on the road and continue to improve. May it stay that way.

Genealogy became an interest because I knew little of my family history which was broken up with adoptions involving both parents. After exploring and learning about the genetics, I had to know where these strange genes came from. It has been a fascinating journey with many twists, turns and some shocking surprises. My ancestors range from some fairly inbred early American folks to medieval European Royalty (also inbred but most of those genes are probably gone, maybe not all of them though) with lots of just ordinary folks in between although there are a few well known ancestors which I hope to present in time.

Frankly, dealing with the Royalty is so completely overwhelming that I probably will not go there, it is not just one royal but possibly hundreds, I am not exaggerating. I have not counted them all as I have 8 family lines (so far) from about the 1600's to 1700's that lead back in time to kings, queens, saints, popes, to Roman Emperors from about 200 AD (CE) to 1200 AD. I even found Shakespeare's line in there. Then there are several hundreds of years of Barons, Counts, Dukes and Sirs as the royal booty proceeded to be distributed among the descendants, becoming more and more diluted as the generations proceeded. This leads to my ancestors that came to the newly formed colonies in the 1600's (almost all of them), probably business people and upper middle class at that time. These relatives come from Spain, France, England, Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands, Germany, Ukraine, Italy, and Portugal.

These are lines I linked into on FamilySearch.org as I tracked and entered the information on relatives. I have been able to verify the main links that lead to these royal lines, through finding the common ancestor with a 5th cousin from 23 and Me. That common relative is from the late 1600's. This distant cousins husband is a veteran genealogist with 40 years experience and is a member of the New England Historic Genealogical Society, where he has access to the original documents. He has verified that his wife's family lines lead back to royalty. I am confident that this information is correct, maybe not completely as I find minor errors but they do not change the main lines. Anyway, if one line was bogus there are 7 others to explain and dozens of branches that all lead to the same places and people.

Update: 4-18-2015, I have found 4 family members listed in the list found below, 2 from Connecticut and 2 from Virginia, if you are curious. The book is called

The Royal Descents of 600 Immigrants to the American Colonies or the United States

Update: 5-1-2015, I have done a basic crash course on European royalty and the ranks, the meaning of those ranks. This was never a subject of interest before but I felt the need to better understand what I was seeing. Apparently it would be more accurate to say I descend from Nobility which is bloodline related and does not necessarily have anything to do with wealth status.
